Rice now has computers to chart patient care and progress at every bedside, as well as barcode technology to administer medications safely and accurately according to a patient's medical record. Hand-held equipment scans the patient's wrist band to ensure the right dose of the right medication is delivered to the right patient at the right time.
Having computers by every bed nearly eliminates potential charting and medication errors and provides real-time progress to care providers.
