Roger was having a heart attack. Emergency Room staff at Rice Memorial Hospital immediately performed a series of steps - a protocol - designed to minimize heart damage and keep Roger alive until the helicopter could transfer him to the nearest catheterization laboratory. After Roger was back home, he enrolled in six weeks of Cardiac Rehab at Rice to continue his recovery process.
